I'm a Mormon, and I was just wondering

It's allowed but not required. The New Testament specifically says it doesn't need to be done.

My grandfather was a very strong Christian and always said that circumcision was an insult to God, as if you're telling God he made a mistake when he designed men. I find that reasonable.

You're a Mormon, and you don't think you are part of Christianity? That's interesting, because the church professes to be Christian, and most of it's members believe they are Christian, as they follow the teachings of Christ found in the Bible and believe He is the cornerstone of their faith. No where did Christ touch on the subject of circumcision in His teachings (in the Bible). From my knowledge there are no Christian religions that forbid, or require, circumcision, including the Mormons.

All religions allow circumcision. Have a nice day. Did you know that the Mormon religion is Christianity based?

Yes, but being Mormon is not Christianity.

It doesn't forbid it. The bible tells of circumcision as being a specific covenant between God and the Jews, but does not say anything about it being prohibited for non-Jews. As a Christian, the ten commandments and the gospel of Jesus are the primary code of conduct, and circumcision is not mentioned at all. Hence, I would feel that if it ain't banned, then it is fair game.

Yes Christianity allows circumcision. It is left up to the parents to decide if they want to do it or not.

Sorry miss "don't make me come in there," but circumcision is spoken STRONGLY AGAINST in the New Testament. Those who advocate circumcision are called "mutilators of the flesh," and Paul wishes they'd go and castrate themselves, leaving the other Christians alone about it. (read the book of Galatians). On the milder note, there is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, master or slave, circumcision or uncircumcision, you are all one in Christ Jesus and are saved by faith alone in Christ Jesus. Circumcision is part of the rule keeping laws of Judaism, and as soon as you subject yourself to them, you have made yourself slave to the whole law which Christ died to SAVE YOU FROM!, thereby devaluing and discrediting the gift of grace through Jesus. Jesus when debating with some Pharisees, healed a man with a withered/crippled hand on the Sabbath. They accused Jesus of breaking the law against working on the Sabbath, and He retorted "you will circumcise a man on the Sabbath if it's the eighth day after he's born (the requirement according to Jewish law, and this could fairly be considered work), but You condemn me for making a man WHOLE on the Sabbath?" (I cannot but interpret this as condemnation of circumcision as making a man, God's most special creation (women being equally God's highest creation), unwhole, or devalued from God's ideal created state for him.)
At other times He asked them "which is lawful, to heal or to harm on the Sabbath?" My conclusion, when putting all the information the Bible gives on this topic, is that there is no acceptable religious defense of this cruel practice.
As far as Judaism goes, though it unfortunately mandates infant circumcision, the Old Testament contains verses which speak of the worthlessness of circumcision of the flesh, declaring that it is the heart which matters to God. During the 40 years of wandering in the desert under the leadership of Moses THE PROPHET of the Jews, circumcision was not practiced, which brings into question whether or not it was actually part of the canon as Moses (as the historically accepted author of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy in which circumcision was originally demanded as part of Judaic practice) had written it.
Christianity DOES NOT SUPPORT CIRCUMCISION, though if an adult chooses it because of medical reasons, this case is not condemned. Circumcision for religious reasons is ABSOLUTELY forbidden in Christianity as it dishonors the grace by which we are given salvation by enslaving ourselves to the law which Christ freed us from, and infant circumcision of a baby boy for a parent's aestetic preferences is completely contrary to the doctrines of love, protecting the weak and defenseless from harm, peacefulness, wholeness, and goodness within the created order which are all part of a Christian's belief.
