Well real slavery exists today, not only from Africa but from Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

I am not referring to slavery as we knew it in past. We are talking domestic servitude and sexual slavery that involves impoverished people from all over the world and is a huge money maker on the black market.

Africans were captured and sold into slavery. These slaves were transported against Their will to The American Colonies, South America, and the Caribbean including the Bahamas and Cuba in the 17th and 18th Centuries.

I don't think Slavery is still going on,but this is one of the tragedies which the people of this World should never forget.

Well, Africans were brought as slaves in America long way back. They suffered a lot but Abraham Lincon alleviated it. I don't think slavery as such exists now in America but if you are talking about racism, then it does exist even now and just because a few Afro - Americans have reached high doesn't mean it's the same for everyone.

No it is not going on. Oprah Winfrey having 11/2 billion dollars and a black woman as secretary of state would tend to say that neither of these people are slaves. No one gave them any of these things they worked for them and earned them. If there is any type of slavery it is a self-imposed slavery that says, "I can't be anything better". Slavery was a terrible episode in American history. There is no institution that intentionally holds anyone back anymore.

Slavery has ended in the United States ... but the vestiges of it remain.

Racism is definitely still alive in America today. This country was not built off of religion, but racism. It doesn't just go away one day.
