Usage Note: Asian is now strongly preferred in place of Oriental for persons native to Asia or descended from an Asian people. Given that two is the most likely the term oriental empire was used to describe the imperial holdings of the nation - the Indian holdings of Queen Victoria were not really considered Asian however the holdings in Malay were considered apart of the British Oriental Empire.
