The point is...it's not news, it's entertainment. Aren't there more important things going on, like soldiers getting killed in Iraq left and right, the propaganda that the pharmaceutical perpetuates, the dangers of genetically modified foods, etc...?

Because of a judge who decided to let her remains rot - so he could keep the cameras rolling - and to hell with the wishes of the corpse..while he makes nice with the mother who she broke ties with 12 years ago ..There are more important things going on; but it is well & good that people learn something from this hearing : Don't die in Hollywood Florida , because Judge Seidlin could end up making a mockery of your last wishes on earth , too.

For some the same reason some people might read serious reading material. Then read the comics. Or watch news and then a sitcom. But this Anna Nicole Smith does have sex, deceit, cover-ups & an innocent child. A mystery for some an obsession for others. Some of us read daily and watch all of the important things you mentioned. Maybe for some of us we need a break. A little junk food. And junk food in moderation is O.K. You may not like the attention of the Smith thing. And I agree there are way more important things, but this soon shall pass. You know if Howard K Stern would submit to a DNA test it might save us from hearing about this for months and MONTHS to come. But also realize the Inquest for the death of Daniel Smith is in March, so do doubt we'll be hearing about that as well. If you don't want to hear about it, don't listen to it. Cable news isn't the only place to go for serious news--- you're posting here. I assume you have internet access-- USE it. There are plenty of *serious* news sites around. Sure it can be annoying, but I don't let it get to me.

It is the best story ever for television. I am not a celebrity watcher but this thing is great. Most of the news we get from Washington is pure BS anyway. Talk about homeland security? Yeah right Bush and the congress let illegals invade us daily yet we spend billions of tax dollars on this phony security. I am so sick of Washington and cannot stand any of the politicians especially the ones running for president. If I have to look at Hillary one more time, I will get ill. This Anna Nicole thing is the best.

I know a thing or two about the media, and this is called "The tiger by the tail" problem. You see, if everybody is showing A.N.Smith stuff, your channel has to as well. And because you are doing it, other channels see you're showing it and figure it must be important to your audiance, so they show more Smith video. Because there a bunch more A.N. Smith stuff on the other channels, now you have to show it more. And round and round.

soldier getting killed is no news for the news, it happens every day, not interesting for people.
Anna n. smith is special and interesting, you never know what happens tomorrow in this case. so the ratings are higher and that what sells

but all people worry about is "anna nicole smith" and "angelina jolie and brad pitt" and "britney spears" and "america's next top model" and all that sh*t

We have to hear so much about Anna Nocole Smith's death because of MONEY.........The Money that the media continues to make because their ratings go waaay up. That sort of trash sells more newspapers, magazines, TV time, etc.
