Nope. With the playoffs the way they are, you've already got about a quarter of all teams making the playoffs. This shouldn't be like the NFL or NBA, where every team that doesn't actively suck makes it.

if you want to add another wildcard spot the means 6 teams from each league would make it to the playoffs and you will have three wildcard team from each league and the is probably not a bad idea to have 6 teams instead of four. There just no wait you can give a team with the best record in each league the division series off, is not a good idea, and the team with a week is not going to had any advantage of winning the next series. Because baseball players are used to playing everyday and the last thing they need is an extract week off in the playoffs, MLB is not like football, so the would never happen.
One good example about having one week in the playoffs that ended the team chance of winning a world series, was last year when the Detroit tigers eliminated the Oakland A's early in four games. They were off for almost a week and look what happen they lost the world against St Louis and they were favorite to win the series.
I don't have a problem with six team make it to the playoffs, instead of five.

well, there are no conferences in baseball. Each league has three divisions, so having two wildcard teams in each division would give a 9 team field. Playoffs would last forever. Two teams from each league would give a 5 team playoff, which would just be a nightmare to organize, since three teams would have a first round bye If you are talking add two more wildcard teams in each league, then this would create a three round playoff, which would also add another week to the schedule. The playoffs are set up the way they are because baseball playoffs are series that take longer to play than just single game playoffs like football. It is fine the way it is.

If you mean 2 teams from each division, you're crazy. That would mean 18 teams out of 30 would make the playoffs. That's just absolutely ridiculous, and would take completely too long to complete the playoffs. If you mean 2 wild card teams from each league, you couldn't give the top 2 teams a bye, just the top team. There is already 4 teams in each league's playoffs, if you add one more team that would be 5 which would mean only 1 team could have a bye. And no, I don't think they need to add anymore teams to the playoffs.

I definitely agree! Right now the division champs have hardly any advantage over the wildcard teams. A 1-game playoff between 2 wildcard teams will force them to use their #1 starter and put them at a distinct disadvantage. So it'll mean something to win your division.
Come on, Selig!

The wild card sucks and should be removed from baseball.
