I was recently in a car accident on the expressway. I was cut off and forced to run into the wall on the passenger side. I bounced off of the wall and ran back in to the vehicle that initially cut me off. Then I hit the wall again and maneuvered to the far left lane and slammed into the left wall. I have front end damage, a flat tire, a bent frame, and side damage. My question is why didn't my airbags deploy? It was a Ford Truck.

sounds like the impact was on the side; which wouldn't deploy the airbags.

If you would have hit the wall head on, then you wouldn't have been bouncing all around the freeway .... but this head on collision would have deployed the airbags.

most vehicles have had this problem for years, its becuase the air bag modular sensor is on the front portion of the frame, not the sides. My aunt was involved in a T-bone accident in her ford explorer and the airbags didnt deploy then. If you would have hit head first, the impact wouldve caused the sensor to deploy the bags. hope this helps

Usually,I would say because of your weight. But since you are a driver, you would probably weigh enough to turn the airbags on.Unless you are extremely underweight.

Take your car to a mechanic and explain the problem. There might be something in there that prevents your airbags from opening.make sure to do this as soon as possible. You were lucky in your recent accident but not having functioning airbags is extremely dangerous.

Good luck!

My son was recently in a rollover accident. The dealer said that the air bags did not deploy because it was not a front end collision. So, my question is, is what good are side air bags?
