I believe it is definitely about a failed relationship, and then possibly still trying to make it work-out after it has ended. I can definitely relate to that. This song is one of my favorites off the new album. I think he still loves the girl, but knows that the relationship won't work. It might also be saying that he doesn't want a relationship anymore, but they are still sleeping together.

From what I've heard I think the song about a guy that is choosing to either move on from a girl or he's deciding to break up with the girl.

I agree with the above posts. It's a break up song and "When darkness turns to light" i.e when the morning comes it will all be over.
He says he gives the final blow and it's to late to fight so operantly he's giving up on the relationship.
