It probably has too much water. leave it alone and it will do much better. They don't need hardly any water at all.

In my experience if your cactus is squishy then you have too much water already. Since cactus grows normally in the dessert then it stands to reason that it doesn't need watering more than once every 7-10 days depending on the temp. of the room.

If your cactus is squishy then it's had too much water, don't water it for a while. Also if it has leaves it's probably not a cactus, I've never seen one with leaves though that doesn't mean they don't exist.

A catcus does not have leaves, like pines and firs do not have leaves as such. If the "leaves" on your cactus are all squishy I think it might have too much water. It is easy to over water plants. I am thinking this is a house plant. If so, check the moisture in the soil. If you can stick your finger down about an inch and feel wet, the soil is too wet. Let it dry out between watering.

Sounds like your cactus has already had enough water. Cactus should only be given water once or twice a month in small amounts.

Yo Melvin! I had a cactus. His name was Oscar. I watered him like once a month. I didn't know that my mom had been watering him too...and he died. Before his death I noticed that his arms were all squishy. He had a few new sprouts, but they were small and also squishy. So...I don't think you should water yours anymore!! :-D

If you overwater a cactus it will die. Make sure you have nutrients in the soil and good drainage. They make a cactus soil. You can get it at Walmart.
