You probably forgot to use the hold button and the ipod turned on and kept playing until the battery died. Just plug it back in the computer and wait a couple of minutes and the ipod will be recognized by the computer and start charging. It doesn't work right away because the battery is completely drained and it takes 2 to 4 minutes for it to start back up.

I have a similar iPod. According to the user guide, you should connect it to your computer. Then slide the lock button to the locked position. Press and hold the select button in the middle of the wheel for 5 seconds. That has the effect of rebooting it.

Same thing happened to mine, it's probably in "hibernation" mode and it's shut itself down and it should work on the next day, so just plug ur ipod w/ ur recharger and wait tommorrow and it should work, if it doesn't then call the 1-800 number.

i have a 80GB and if you pressed a bunch of buttons you have to take out the battery or you have it on the hold button and even if it is on the hold button you still have to put the hold button all the way back
