I seem to find reverse discrimination where-ever I go to apply for a job, these days. Haven't had a decent job for over 4 years. Does that experience count?

I used to work for the Soclal Security Administration during the Clinton regime. There, the color of a person's skin determined how you were recieved at the door and if you received benefits or not. Non-english speaking people were turned away at the door as were hispanics. No one ever ask what their citizenship status was. All this overt racism occurred with the knowledge and blessings of management. As the hispanic public was looked at as bad, co-workers assumed that this meant that they too could treat non-white workers poorly too. Working under this type of racism was demeaning and demoralizing.

It affects affects me big time. I live in the south and I have not had a job for the last two years. I pass all tests, but at the interviews I feel discriminated against because I am black. You would think in 2007, race no longer matters.
This is the short answer folks. You guys do not really want to know all of it - you won't be able to handle it.
But I am answering the question - racism affects me. This is but a single way only.

It's weird because it doesn't. When I lived in DC races intermingled with each other. There was racism right in front of you. Now that I'm in Texas, it's almost hidden. Everyone is separated. Not by force, but by choice. I don't interact with other races and ethnicities like I used to. Until my guy came along and reminded me that there are other people out there...he's Vietnamese.

To be perfectly candid, it doesn't affect me. I am a racist at times and it does not make me unhappy. It is the way I was created and I know that all of us have the same feelings on occasion. Do I stay up at night and wonder about it? No way. I let out a burst now and then and quit.

I live in Mississippi.....oh yes, the state that keeps our blacks in shacks as some still think...
But to be honest, I worked at a gov't job sometime ago and had been there for 3 years but not as a permanent full time worker, anyway, had 2 blacks under my direction, when permanent placement with benefits came open...they were given the jobs because of their race......went to apply at a bank....same story, they had to hire minority
You still hear racism....everywhere in every state....from time to time, but most segregation is by choice. I know several in my town, and even work with a black FNP who has several degrees and just Tues I hugged her and told her I loved her...she is a sweetheart and I had been having a rough day.....she understood
As for the one not getting jobs because of her "color" maybe you need to brush up on your attitude? meaning for interviews, I have worked up north and many many blacks were with me....also down here there are many many holding very good jobs so can't see where you are coming from on that issue anymore in this day and time.
