IV had other hamsters and they had a wheel too. My newest one goes really fast and for a really long time. Do they know when to stop or should I have a time period for them?

Hamsters like to use a wheel as a source of entertainment, the main reason your hampster is in there for so long is that hes probably bored of his enclosure and the wheel gives him something to do.

No, it's natural....hamsters are known for running miles a night on the exercising wheel. I have hamsters too and I love them to death...even if they wake me at 2 am still running, I know that they're ok.

i wouldn't worry.
i have a hammy and she will get get wheel spinning at warp speed and go for 2hrs,i timed her one day, they she went and took a drink from her water bottle then ran another 30 min on her wheel.then she took a snooze,

they will know when to stop, let them have fun.

remove the wheel and only give it back for short periods during the day. they can actually run themselves to death on a wheel.

they know when to stop on their own. Your new hamster just has a lot of energy and is just burning it naturally.
