Taal lake and volcano are the closest places I can think of. Just a little bit further and there in Batangas where some beaches are. North of Manila (2 hrs) there is Subic Bay. They are about the closest places to Manila you will find.
If you take the ferry from Batangas you can go to Puerto Galera which is probably the nicest beach mentioned thus far. That is about it for places close to Manila.

It's unfortunate that the best places are far outside of Manila. For your convenience, there is the Tagaytay, or if you want it nearer, the La Mesa Park .
Come also to Davao. It's just 2 hours away. We have all the fresh fruits available. Taste our durian at wa'g maging banyaga sa sariling bayan.

i have found this place in the cavite area where you can relax and you can enjoy a very good view of the san lazaru race track. if you want to go to a golf course or if you wanna wind up in a casino there are some quite near a mere 2 to 5 mins away from your place!! my wife and i have bought a lot there, actually for me this is the place there is for a home!! plus i was quite surprise with the price appreciation of the land, when i bought it our place only costs around 5.4, now the place goes to 6 million something. we where lucky to have purchased the placeat a low price

Caliraya Lake resort in Laguna. You take the Antipolo, Rizal route and you will see the most scenic lake view you can have near Manila. I think they have a website now.

Lake Taal comes to mind: http://www.ilec.or.jp/database/asi/asi-58.html Only 60K away.
Cavite is interesting: http://www.cavite.gov.ph/
They manufacture most of the jeepneys of the country there.
You really should check out Quiapo with it's historic and serene church: http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgresults.cfm?destination=manila@96&cur_section=sig&property_id=267574
Or how about Quezon City, the richest in the islands:
