do i need to replace better ethernet card can use thru ethernet cable more than 40m?

Ethernet should have no problem with 40 meters of cable. If the card is okay but doesn't work with the 40m cable, then the problem is probably not the card, and more probably with the quality of the cable. You should be using Cat5 type cable.

You are likely experiencing some unusual degradation of signal strength. Two options come to mind:

1. The cable is not of high quality, and the conducting material in it is causing the attenuation. Change to a high quality cable.

2. You are stringing the cable through a very electrically or magnetically noisy environment. If your cable is next to a large electric motor, or generator, the machine could cause interference and distort your signal. If this is the case, consider routing the cable elsewhere.


I am leaning more toward the option that the cable is bad.

Usually an Ethernet signal can travel about 100m. If it is not, it is probably an issue with the cable, not the card. Try looking for one of the newer Cat6 cables. They will carry a signal over a longer distance.
