"Stephanie" is right: the only way to get from Downtown all the way down the Strip is on the Deuce, a double-decker bus, unless you want to pay for a taxi. The price is now $5 for a day pass, but that's a good deal. The Deuce does a loop Downtown, so it will cross northbound at Fremont & 4th, then southbound at Fremont & Las Vegas Blvd. See the link for maps, prices, schedule, all that stuff:

My own comment about the monorail is that it's not worth the money just for the fun of riding it, and it's not very convenient because the stations are way behind casinos on only one side of the Strip. That usually just adds to your walking time. And once you've got a Deuce day pass, there's no point in taking the monorail or trolley. (Although there are short connecting monorails connecting Luxor-Mandalay Bay-Excalibur for free.)

The monorail ends at the Stratosphere going North and at the MGM going South (soon McCarran)
There are hotels cheaper and probably cleaner on the Strip (Circus Circus, Imperial Palace, Vagabond). The cab rides from the 4 Queens to the MGM would leave a big dent in your wallet and forget about the CAT bus at night. If you have your heart set on going to the MGM, You would be better off on the Strip somewhere. If you want the Fremont / Downtown Experience then 4 Queens it is. Unfortunately they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Try Kayak.com or TravelWorm.com to find the best rates on the Strip. I think you'll be surprised.

4 Queens Casino is located on famous Freemont St downtown across from Binions Horseshoe. All of Freemont St. is residence to all of the older hotel/casinos.
You can walk right out to Las Vegas Blvd, take a right, wait on one of many city buses that transport tourist up,and down Las Vegas Blvd. You will have to wait no longer than five mins.
It's a straight shot, about a 10min ride to the MGM Grand which will be on the left on the corner of Paridise Blvd, and Las Vegas Blvd.
I own time share in Las Vegas at Polo Towers right beside the MGM.I know my way around Vegas like the back of my hand.We always rent a car when we get there,so I have never ridden the rail at all.Freemont St is a world all it's own!
Have Fun!!

I live in Las Vegas, and your best bet is THE DEUCE, which is a double decker bus that only travels down Las Vegas blvd. It is really neat, because it arrives every 7-9 minutes, and for 2.50, you can travel up and down the Strip for 24 hours. Thmonorail sucks, It's not a very good idea to take it, and it's much more pricier. Just a tip, if you're in to shopping, there's a bus that picks you up in front of the MGM, and takes you to Stateline (Whiskey Pete's) and back to the MGM, 8.95 each way, and this outlet is faboulous! Hope I helped you.

Take the Deuce.....double decker bus, runs 24-7. Leaves downtown (end of Freemont Street) where the Four Queens is, and runs all the way down the strip. $2.00 one way.....$5.00 pass good for 24 hours....Also have a weekly rate, but not sure what it is...probably around $30.00. better than Mono-rail, cause you travel the front of the strip and see the lights. Also, much cheaper than cabs.

Very difficult.
The 4 Queens is downtown ... and obviously, MGM is on the strip.
The furthest north that the monorail runs is to Sahara. You would have to take a cab from 4 Queens to Sahara then board the monorail and take that down to MGM.
Eventually the monorail will connect to downtown as well as the airport, but that is several years away.

Big pain because the monorail doesn't go by there. The new Signature at MGM only costs 159 a night at hotels.com. It will save a lot of time to stay there.
