I LOVE Gerberas - and I am not usually big on flowers. Gerberas just make me so happy whenever I look at them. I've received them as gifts a few times as well as bought the fresh cut ones. I see Gerbera plants - did anyone actually buy these plants and do they bloom again after the first few flowers die?

PS: I live in an apt. I mean I saw pots of plants - these would not really live more than the first few blooms, right?

I love them too - and yes, they are temperamental!! Give them plenty of sun and warmth and be careful not to over water! When you see any dead leaves make sure to cut them out. They can be prone to fungal problems.

I also love love love Gerberas, but they are temper mental to grow. They grow extremely well in zone 24, Santa Barbara CA, where I was raised. If you look them up in the Sunset Western garden book they classify them as "green house" plants, which means they are very temper mental except when grown in a perfect zone like 24.

I have them planted in my garden. Some have come back after several years. However, I live in a place with fairly mild winters.
