I have a chevy 93 g20 conversion van. the abs light has been on the past couple of days with the parking brake light on as well. Before I take it to get the computer scanned i wanted to check my brake fluid levels to make sure it wasn't just the brake fluid level being low. Although i am still concerned about getting the abs light checked im completely confused as to why the parking brake light is coming on too.

There is a clear plastic reservoir that contains the brake fluid. It should have a black lid with a dipstick indicating the level of fluid. Some are marked on the side so you can see the fluid level without removing the lid. From what you describe, I believe you may need your brake pads replaced as the ones on now are probably worn out.

Check the parking brake switch. It has become defective in some way and is staying closed. That is about all that it could be, unless the wires going to it have gone bad by means of loss of insulation from wear, or rubbing and are shorting to the body metal. It's more nuisance than a don't drive it issue.
The brake fluid is going to be in the master cylinder. I'm going to guess that you have power assist brakes. Look for the large cylinder shaped object at the upper right side of the fire wall as facing the engine from the front. The rectangular box attached to it with 2 small pipes coming out of the side of it is the master cylinder. The cover may be held in place with a metal bale that goes over the top of it. Gently pry the bale off of the cover, remove the cover and look in to the 2 small reservoirs. If they are low, fill them no more than half way. I say that because if they are filled completely, then the extra fluid that will be forced back in when the brakes are reset could make it over flow. Your problem is either a failure in the ABS system electrical circuits, or the fluid is indeed to low. If the fluid is low, then there are leaks to be fixed, new brake pads and shoes to be installed, or both.

The fluid reservoir is under the hood on the drivers side near the windshield. is the van leaking any fluid? Does pedal feel soft or spongy?
