I always thought it was Georgia.
Most slaves in the south that were further north, like South Carolina, were deathly afraid of being 'sold down the river' or 'sold south' onto the highly commercialized operations in Georgia because often slaves were literally worked to death there.

A. Texas. 30% in 1860. Funny how so many preach about slavery and how they are owed reparations, but in actuality, know little about slavery. I guess it just makes for a good excuse, and not good history.
