Try to avoid the food additive MSG, or Monsodium Glutamate. This has caused me migraines for YEARS until I found out what was going on. It is in near everything, Chinese food being the worst, but even at the grocery store, read labels carefully, you'll be VERY surprised. For example--ALL flavors of Doritos....Cheetos.....canned meats, soups, frozen dinners, etc. Try eliminating MSG first for about a week or two, then eat something with it in it CAREFULLY--I think you'll find out if it's MSG intolerance. Also, if you have migraines, completely avoid red wine, smoked foods like smoked cheese, etc. Even chocolate in high doses can be a problem for people with migraines. Lavender oil rubbed on the forehead and under the nose, or in a diffuser in the room, when you GET a migraine--and lying in a cool, dark room very comfortably can help the pain; you can try cold compresses on the back of your neck and forehead as well as all these combined. Good luck!

Muscles get knots called trigger points. These make the muscles tight causing them to press on nerves and other thing.
Pain can be referred from places other than the head.
#1 The first thing is to take a couple swigs of molasses or eat a couple of bananas. They contain magnisium and potassium both of which muscles need.
#2 WATER she should be drinking 1/2 gallon minimum. The head of neurology at UCDavis likens a body running low on water to a car running low on oil (the engine can seize).
Get a good (deep tissue) massage (to loosen the trigger points) on the back, shoulders and neck. Make sure to press up at the base of the skull where it meets the spine.
You rub or lightly scratch everywhere on your head. You will hit spots that are tender these are trigger points. The idea is to rub across them 6-12 times per session up to six times per day until they go away.
For more information on trigger points read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.

I can tell you from my personal experience that I found some relieve with Feverfew.
This herb has a long history of use in traditional and folk medicine
as a treatment for disorders often controlled by aspirin, such as
fever, headaches and some of the accompanying symptoms such as nausea and depression.
Recently feverfew has been gaining fame as an effective treatment for migraine headaches. It may also help ease diseases caused by
chronic inflammation such as arthritis.
It is the combination of ingredients in the feverfew plant that
brings such effective relief. It works to inhibit the release of two
inflammatory substances, serotonin and prostaglandins, both believed
to contribute to the onset of migraines. By inhibiting these amines
as well as the production of the chemical histamine, the herb
controls inflammation that constricts the blood vessels in the head,
and prevents blood vessel spasms which may contribute to headaches.
Feverfew should be taken regularly to receive maximum benefit and
protection from migraines.
The tea, drunk cold, may also relieve skin perspiration associated
with migraines, and has been used to stimulate appetite, and improve
digestion and kidney function.
Clinical tests have shown the use of feverfew may reduce of
frequency and severity of headaches. It may be more effective than
other nonsteroidal antiinflammatories (NSAIDS), like aspirin.
Additional benefits include lower blood pressure, less stomach
irritation and a renewed sense of well-being.
Common Use: The herb has historically been used as remedy for
headache, inflammation and as a general substitute for ailments
treated with aspirin. Its most popular use is for the prevention of
migraine headaches and associated symptoms. Pregnant women should
not use the herb, and some people have developed mouth ulcers or
experienced loss of taste from eating the fresh leaves.

I have heard that hot coffee helps. Also, try laying down in a dark room with some Vick's Vaporub on your forhead, then put a hot washcloth over your forehead and eyes. Try to completely relax, clear your mind from any stress or worry, just lay there for about 20 minutes. It works for me. Hope you feel better.

There are some homeopathic choices you can get OTC (over the counter), chiropractic adjustments can help, keep a food diary to see if they related to food choices (cheese and other lactose items can cause onset of symptoms) smells can trigger them, too.
I use a lavendar scented pillow (essential oils).
