I had an add off myspace
to sell my keyboard
she is sending me a check for 2,450
cash it and take 200$ of it out
then go to western union
and send the rest with the keyboard
to the address she is giving me
in the email, and take the shipping
out of her remaining balance
I know noone is going to cash a check
for that much unless its in a bank account
so can this hurt me at all
or what will this do.
how can i be sure if this is a scam
or what can i do to keep this safe

SCAM. If the bank cashes the check, and then it comes up bad during clearing, the bank will take it out of your account.

ITS A SCAM! Don't do this. I just saw this on the news last week. The check will look competly real, but it won't be and it will bounce off your account (that is what the person is expecting you'll do, cash it into your account). Don't do it! You can find someone reliable to buy it. Try listing it either on Ebay or in your local newspaper. Anyone who asks you to cash a check and then send a portion of the money back is scamming you.

DO NOT DO THIS.....THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!
This person sends you a cashiers check drawn on an American Bank that is fake. Then, they want you to send them money back for shipping. They have your money and you get the cashiers check returned back to your bank as "no such account". You are left holding the bag as the saying goes. You are now out the money you sent them, bank charges, and probably being overdrawn because you have spent the money you deposited. They do not want to buy what you have for sale they only want the money you send them......!!!!!!!!

I would certainly stay away from this deal. It must be a stolen check or something why else would someone trust you with a check for that much saying to cash it. what would stop you from taking the total amount its a win win situation for them if you keep money no big deal it was stolen anyway. if you cash it send th rest to her the cops end up knocking on your door. then its unlikely they would believe the story and she would get away free with the money. so thats just my opinion. but western union says
"Never send money to a stranger using a money transfer service. "
" Beware of deals or opportunities that seem too good to be true."
"Don’t use money transfer services to pay for things like online auction purchases"

If any offer sounds too good to be true...then don't bite on the offer as more than likely it is a scam big time.Try selling your products on E-Bay and only accept the asking price. Good luck.

it is a scam do not cash it or try to depoist it or you will be paying it back its a trick .even if your bank cashed it its fake and you could go to jail besides paying the money back plus overdraft charges if it causes your account to be overdrawn.remember if it sounds too good to be true it probaly is.call your local police and turn it over to them.good luck.
