Hmm...interesting question. I've never thought about that before but I'd say the nucleus is the kitchen of the restaurant. The nuclear envelope would be the kitchen walls and nuclear pores are the doors kitchen doors/windows through which orders and messenges are sent. I hope this fits in with the rest of your analogy! good luck

The kitchen keeps the restarount going but it is the production site, I would think that the kitchen would be the ribosome, I would say that a safe in the back room with the recipes in it would be the nucleus. The safe being the nuclear envelope and the door being the nuclear pore.
Or maybe the manager's office, with all the records etc in it. Where the office itself is the nuclear envelope and the door is again the pore.
