first clean the wound with a mild cleaner then treat the wound with an over the counter antibiotic ointment or cream (like polysporin). Always keep the area clean. To prevent scarring do not pick or scratch and apply Vitamin E (either cream or oil from the capsule) or the polysporin scar solution available at most pharmacies.

avoid sea foods, shrimp, crab and beef! they make scar to permanent convexity with red color.

apply tumeric powder with a little water over new fresh skin from the dried wound daily for 2-3 weeks and keep it out of the sun with tumeric shell. Can find dry tumeric, looks like ginger, at far east or indian grocery stores or natural food markets. sooner better before new skins grow mature.

ooo ouch... my mom had surgery on her heart that left her a 6 inch scar on her chest and she had to find a way to reduce the redness left by the scar. depending on how deep and serious the scar is you could get injections to resuce its appearance. but talk to your doctor about it. there are over the counter medicines you can rub on too, but, again, just talk to your doctor. your skin may react dangerously to some of these medicines.
