I was wondering if anyone else noticed how thirsty they get. I am nursing and all I seem to want to do is drink. and I especially crave dr pepper even though I know that isn't the best thing to drink right now.

I noticed I was more thirsty when I breastfed my two sons. Water is of course the best but even a little Dr. Pepper is okay in moderation. :)

Always keep bottles of water by your nursing chair. Try to drink one each time you nurse. I get so thirsty too. You don't have to deny yourself the Dr Pepper, just try to have a bottle of water first

It is because you are nursing. I did the same thing as most do, but I craved water. Never had been a water drinker, but I found myself drinking pitchers of water per day. It is normal, just try to get a little more water in there because your body needs it as much as the baby needs it. Best wishes.

I went thru the same thing! Your body needs all the liquid to produce the milk, so you crave it constantly! Water mostly, but sometimes milk, juice, soda...anything I could get my hands on!! Just kidding! But seriously this is normal and essential if you want to keep producing milk.

I was always hungry, too! It's because your body is taking everything you give it to make milk. Try drinking some fluids that are electro-lyte balanced, such as, certain waters and gatoraide. Heck, even drink some pedialyte if you can stomach it.

of course you're thirsty- you're drinking for two!! dr pepper probably gives you caffeine and sugar for energy- but try apple juice instead. its a great pick me up and good for both of you.
