Health class " There are _________ bones in the Skeletal System. Doesn't say compact bone,marrow, spongy bone ,or periosteum. This must mean bones in general. Please help. Thanks!

As several people have said, in humans it is the third of the bones in the inner-ear that conduct and amplify the vibrations from the ear-drum. The three bones are the malleus, incus and stapes (hammer, anvil and stirrup) and the stapes is the third and smallest of the three. The bones are collectively called "ossicles". Google any of these terms for more information.
