Modern Day Racism?

My son has to right a history essay of about the most important issue of 2007. He suggested doing a paper about racism. My question for everyone is why are only whites considered racists? I have done a fair share of research and I am finding more evidence that racism is coming from all races. For example these days in South Africa, whites are being persecuted and treated unfairly. While I understand that apartheid was a terrible thing, is it right to retaliate on all whites just because thats what they are? I also realize that blacks are still victims in Africa and still think that they world has a way to go before racism truely ends.

Whites are considered racist more than others because of history.

History doesn't tell us that blacks enslaved whites and took them over in ships to Africa to force them to do labor.

History doesn't tell us that blacks declared whites 3/5 of a person.

History doesn't tell us that whites had to fight for their freedom against blacks.

I'm not saying that whites are demons and the only racist people alive, but the reason people are quicker to label a white person as a racist is because of history.

Unfair, but that's how it goes.

I myself don't judge until I know a person and I've met more racists who were black than white, but, yeah.

I'm aware that Africans sold their own to whites. And I'm also aware of how warm and squishy that makes you feel inside. But...I bet you didn't know that they had the intention that they were selling their brethren into indentured servitude...not slavery. Oh, no, no one happened to offer that little detail. And even if the Africans did know that they were selling their own into slavery, does this take the focus off the Europeans? Are their hands clean? Of course not, dahling, but you may think that if you wish.

And I'm glad you think you know what's going on inside my head. If you have a problem with someone, you should take it up with them, not me, because I don't know you and you don't know me. Let's stop making baseless assumptions, hmm?

Why don't you learn history? I'm enrolled in a college history class this semester and I've learned quite a bit.

I think you misspelled "educational". Did you do that on purpose? You also misspelled "enslave". Just thought you should know...

I'm aware that slave holders wanted their slaves to be considered a full person, but thanks for the quick history lesson! You shouldn't read so far into my words, because I did say "whites", not "anti-slavery whites". Stop putting words in my mouth, that's not nice.

Of course you didn't understand my last "babble" as you so eloquently put. I'll explain it to you. History does not tell us that blacks had race laws that kept whites from doing things that they had the right to do. Simple. Right?

Now next time you want to find someone to pick on, make sure they don't know more than you do.

Racism will exist as long as people are forced to live with races they have little in common with and don't share the same values.
I don't normally watch the garbage 'Montel' spews but this week featured a show about racism, guess what? White racists!
No Nation of Islam, Black Panthers, La Raza, JDL, only the evil White man!
The media is the reason Whites are the only racists because they won't report the truth. The Duke Rape case is only one example, remember the black football players that raped an 11 year old white girl?

Racism is linked to politics and economics and thus power. No, it isn't monopolized just by whites but happens wherever there is a dominant rule and the possibility of institutionalizing it. Do your research from that angle. The pathetic little prejudices people have against others who are different is not racism. It's ignorance. Racism is about power. Good luck

It is due to ignorance and uneducated people. If people would only educate themselves before they lay blame on the "whites" for being so racist...... Racism is a belief that one race is superior to another. I am a proud German and I love my history and heritage. So I am proud to be white. Does that make me a racist white girl?

i agree completely. white people do get a lot of grief for being racist, while alot of time other races are given a pass. im not sure why but it probably has to do with the fact that white people are the only ones who have had wide spread legislation oppressing other races. the japanese did it to the koreans and too and from what i understand they get the same reaction.

My people feel it's about time they got theirs, whether by violent or peaceful ways. Since we take action as a race, you could call it racism, but is that any different from the actions of illegals through La Raza (the race)?

I don't think a day goes by that I haven't had words with whitey. After my time in jail, i have grown to be more aggressive twards whites. This because they are the most racist people. Just the other day, one approached me and wanted to know if I wanted to buy a candy bar. So I started in. I threw his candy on the ground and told him he should go get a real job like every black man does. I have a great job at the rental store, and these white people just walkin around like we dont dew anything. I bet that teenager has already been told to hate blacks by his white parents.

An obvious product of public schools you haven't learned the facts. White people did not inslave the ***** their own people did. You have this vision in your head that white people got off boats and ran about with butterfly nets catching slaves when nothing could be further from the truth.

It was abolitionists and anti-slavery whites that pushed toward ****** being declared 3/5ths of a person for purposes of apportionment in congress. Slave holders wanted ****** to be declared a full person. The truth be known slave holders would have loved negroes being declared twice a person because more population meant more members of their state going to congress.

Do they really teach you this crap in modern day public schools?

How do u people come to these conclusions? I've seen Whit Racist, Black Racist, Asian Racist, "Mixed" Racist and so on. Racism is not exclusive to one race. If u think it is then u have some serious problems.
