Juicy, I don't take offense to what you said, you have a good point. Though I did not appreciate you calling me "small minded", I can see where you are coming from. Good chat! I underestimated you. You're smart for a teenager. =) And that's a good thing.

And to those who say that we cannot control the reproductive rights of teenagers...why? If we did it in the 70s, why not now? In reference to Roe vs. Wade, where the case made abortion legal.

Am I right? ...Lemme check...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe_v._Wade yes I believe so.

That is a great solution. Then Texas won't have to bother with the whole HPV vaccination process that's now mandatory for all girls, and high schools will not have to have built-in daycare centers for its students' offspring! Not only will this save a lot of unwanted children from being tortured for the rest of their lives, but also it will also show everyone how morality has disintegrated totally. It might not be long before this solution actually comes into fruition, if people don't realize all the mistakes they are making today and take steps to revive the time-tested moral teachings of old.

Unfortunately, for the small percentage of American teenagers who actually lead moral, mature lives, this would be unfair and harsh treatment. Parents need to revamp their whole parenting method and teach their children effectively enough. There is a problem when kids are put through sex ed in elementary school. Things aren't meant to be that way. We as a people need to work together to reverse this situation by leading moral lives and setting good examples for the younger generation. I hope you guys are doing that, for the sake of our children.

*Edit*: Candylane, I would like to follow up on this issue with you, because it's so hard to find people who agree with me nowadays. nanana4589@yahoo.com

Personally, I think that you're small minded. But that's just my opinion.

How about we start at the root of the problem instead of trying to 'fix it'... literally. Parents need to keep their kids in check more by not letting their children turn into little sl uts, whores, and dogs. I don't believe that something like maturity and the rights to reproduce should be generalized for every individual. Each case should be just that- case by case. Some kids deserve to be trusted, not have their tubes tied. Other kids, other story.

Not only am I opposed to your solution, but I'm also opposed to teen pregnancy. I'm almost fourteen, and I can tell you that I will never end up pregnant as a teenager. I can also tell you that if someone would have come at me, trying to tie my tubes, I would have tied their arm into a pretty little bow around their neck.

Think before you put everyone into one group. Some people deserve a bit more respect, and fewer degrading comments aimed at them.

*edit* I too, can see where you're coming from, and it may have been a little harsh for me to call you small minded. I read the wikpedia article that you posted, as well. R v. W might have been able to control rights then, but right now with elections coming up shortly and all of the mention of abortion rights, I doubt that anything further will be brought up about alternative methods. Good points though.

I think that Sex Ed should be taught in 7th grade all the way up to Graduation. I mean the full story. Show them pregnancy, STD's, AIDS and what it is really like. If they learn about it at a young age and I mean make it a whole class where they are tested and graded.. it will stop alot of the teen pregnancy. Another thing is if parents would talk to their children about birth control and make them aware that IF they happen to ever try anything.. even though the parents would like them to wait til they are married.. PLEASE at least use some type of protection. But this seems to harsh and parents seem to think that it will hurt the kids.. so this is why when it happens to their kid.. it is such a shock.. I plan on teaching my son all about the consequences of sex when I think he is old enough to understand. I want him to be responsible and make good decisions.. even though all of them may not be what I want .. at least he will be aware.

Well that's stupid. Who would pay for that? Also, married people aren't the only ones who want children. People need to make their own decisions. Might I suggest the book "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley to you? I think tat it would put into perspective the kind of world this would be if too much control was had over reproduction and other such things.

you cannot be in control of people's reproductive rights. i do not think that teenagers, as a whole, are capable of taking care of children on their own, but i know 30 year old that aren't either.

So where is your solution to the problem? Are you not aware that Christanity is not the ONLY religion practiced by humans?

funny, my solution is similar, but easier - just round up all the young boys, give them vascectomies, and don't reverse it until they and their prospective mate have passed a parenting course...
