Well this discussion is over 9 years old but in case anyone still cares...I would say the ideal weight for a 5'9 male is about 175 pounds. I am 5'9 and weigh 175 - I am somewhat muscular, and I strive for a look that is medium build. Not too big, not too small either. For people saying the ideal weight is less than 165, they are obviously going for the "skinny" look. I don't think "skinny" looks good, but it's up to the individual's preference.

I cannot say there is an "ideal weight" for any male. It depends on what you're daily activities are and how much muscle mass you're building, or not building. Before I began my bicycle racing days, I weighed between 150 - 155 lbs., at 6' tall. As I began to build up muscle mass in my legs, my weight went up to 165lbs. and later to 175 and eventually 190 lbs in the height of my racing and touring days. People thought I looked better as I put on weight, but some of that "appreciation" of my weight gain was due to how I was apportioning it throughout my body. I stayed very slim, and yet became thicker due to increased muscle mass. So, I'd be more inclined to suggest a weight range as opposed to a specific weight, but then, even ranges are subject to what your daily regimen is. Sorry I can't be of more help than that. God Bless you.

I am 5 foot 9 and 190 pounds, but I am extremely bulked up still from football season. I would say Ideal would be 175lbs maybe.
