I just had a new oil fired furnace installed today. It is a forced hot water system. the temperature now is much greater than the setting on the thermostat. I plan on calling the installer tomorow, but I am curious now. Any ideas?

Hubby says it's probably that the thermostat needed to be swapped out and properly set for the new system. They're not talking to each other very well.

As long as the heater is not running all day, your thermostat is just miscalibrated. See if you can find a glass tube thermometer(reliable and accurate). If you have an analog thermostat, then if you take it apart there is probably a little adjustment screw (or something) for the needle or switch. If yours is digital, I don't know what to tell you, better ask the repairman how to calibrate it.

Oh, man! Leave that needle alone. If it is just not setting right, go ahead and call, so the furnace guy will know it is him and not you.

The indicator needle is in the wrong place and needs to be physically bent to the correct temp.
