Sounds like you are using only one kind of spyware detection software. While the one program has discovered spyware/adware, you really need to use at least 2 different programs to help detect for spyware. I use Adaware and Spybot S&D. Hijack this is also very good, but you need to know how to use it. As long as it is getting rid of the spyware, then don't worry about it. But go out and get yourself some more protection/detection software so that you will have 1 program that will find something that the other won't.

Yes. Get rid of them, get a copy of adaware personal (www.lavasoftusa.com -- it's free) and run that as well.

Go to add/remove programs and see if any unknowns are there. Even if the removal programs don't find them, yank 'em out.

Make sure you have an up-to-date virus scanner (avg from free.grisoft.com is good & free) and run a full scan. It's best to do this in safe mode.

Good luck cleaning up. They're not serious but who knows what else they'll invite in.

As long as it got rid of them then probably not. You'd be surprised how often spybot finds things on most computers. They're common and are, sadly, unavoidable but rarely do much damage. This is speaking generally of course and not of those specific ones.

No, it's doing it's job by finding these, and also after running spybot, close it out and run Adaware SE Personal... Two minds are better than one..

If they are just cookies, no! Cookies are not programs at all, but just text files, and the ones marked as "Spyware" are used probably just for advertising. You can safely delete the ones it thinks are "Spyware" and not be concerned.

Not overly concerned. You have spy programs, but they are harmless except for the fact that they are gathering information. I would still remove them.
