mike hussey said we need 400+ runs to win matches on small west indies grounds on flat pitches...and since we have an out of form bowling attack....we will need at least 450 to win games and only 2 teams in the world are capable of getting 400+ totals....they are australia...south africa and sri lanka!!! aussies are more than capable of getting 400+ ...look at our batting line up....gilly....hayden....ponting...hussey....symonds...we have some big hitters....even if our bowling is crap we have such a super batting line up we can get anything to give our bowlers that extra breathing space....we missed pontings leadership and proper field placements...if there is a sporting team in the world u would never ever count out...it is the aussie cricket team...we just need gilly and ponting back to get even more runs to play with...we can use the same bowling attack...bracken and mcgrath is good enough...with hogg...and shaun tait..we need 1 more good bowler!!!

and we can win matches with our fielding alone...we can run out key batters and save another 40 to 50 runs with our fielding alone which adds to our total...we have ponting...hussey...michael clarke...brad hodge...and if symonds plays we have him...brag hogg is very good...south africa are the other great fielding team...with gibbs ab de villiers...prince....ppl think cause we lost 5 games we are out of the world cup already....in the 2003 world cup...we lost warney to drugs and everyone said aussies are not going to win...what happened in the finals...we gave india a mother of a hiding!!! and our bowling coach wasnt there on the NZ tour...we have a super team...we might be on a losing streak but i will tell u what we always reserve our best when we really need it...cause us aussies are fighters and we have that never give up attitude..thats why our sports do so well!! i still think the final will be between aussies and south africa!!!!

every good team need good batting and bowling players.like the same way Australia need some players like this and they have also.but the players are not playing to their potential,so they are losing in recent times,it is not necessary to score 400+ runs as hussey said. A good team will win with even 100 runs.

Well, look, scoring 400+ runs daily is just out of question. It means that if the Australian batting fails, they'll lose the match?
You're right, Bracken, Tait and McGrath provide great depth to the pace attack. Let Ponting come back, it'll all be all right. New Zealand played the series of their lifetime, everyone has their day. Hussey doesn't have too much experience as a captain, Ponting led Australia to the World Cup win in 2003 when they won the final by 169 runs. Australia were not the world number one for nothing, they'll surely get back. It's a pity that Lee couldn't provide more depth to the bowling.

Clearly he is talking through his rear end and I guarantee you that thought entire the world cup the Aussies are not going to score 400+ even once. West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, England, NZ, India all are capable enough to give the Aussies a run for their money. Aussies will be lucky to reach the semi-finals.

yes,in present conditions means whan there is no ponting, gilchrist, symonds, brett lee they must score 400+ runs to win an odi match with bowlers like tait, clark, jhonson etc.,but when the rested team players came into the team there is no need for them to reach 400+ runs in an Odi because brett lee was the fastest bowler in the world and also he is the bowler who had very good average nearly 21.58 in last 20 matches taking 30 wickets in them and also the return of rested players will change the scenario of the team.

they have good bowling and Fielding but recently they lost with those things.. so i would say this time they have challenge more than anyone in the cup! cuz to my analysis.... they made two non-world cup wining teams(England and new zealand) perform at their best and let them come through ranks.while South Africa on the other side, being the rank first in the world now. these 3 non-world cup wining teams have loads of talent they might upset one two past winners this time for good. specially England, cuz after horrible summer in Australia, they beat Australia and won the cup on their own soil. as cricketer everyone would accept you will be more competitive after you have tour in aus....

Sorry but just because the bloody bowling coach wasn't with them for three games doesn't mean their bowling should turn to **** like it did. Come on!
With the new rules of cricket I'd say 400 is possible. The world cup will certainly be interesting.

One must remember that 350 + score is not always possible and it can happen only occasionally irrespective of the ground. hence no one should worry about chasing the score of more than 350 runs in the world cup.
