Would you use information provided by an English equivalent of "Megan's Law?

"Megan's Law", in the USA provides details about sex offenders who have served their sentences and are living in the community. It gives details, on request, of the locality of released offenders, their addresses and the nature of their offence.
Would you enquire after such information, for your own locality, or elsewhere? If you did, what would you do if you found that a released offender, who may (or may not) have been living a blameless life, close by, for many years, or may only have been released recently, was living near to you?
Would you take any actions?
If so, what would you do?
How would you feel?
If your actions, directly or indirectly, resulted in, his or her's removal elsewhere, how would you feel about the fact that they must live somewhere, just so long as it isn't close to you?
What about their new neighbours?
Given the feelings often expressed here, do you think that such a law should be brought in?

yes it should be available to peolpe where ever they live in what ever country. I would not go out and hassle the released offender in fact i would want myself & family to keep our distance and even move away if the offender was close by. We all want to protect our loved ones and having information to do that would be helpful.

I do believe such a law should be brought here yes.although i'd be nieve to believe thats children all sorted and safe.for as many characters there are on the list imsure it is out number by ones not on any list.I have expeirience in trying to get such an offender put away and to no result.then there is of cause the idiotic lengths of sentences for these offenders,and good behavior while inside merits early release what an idiotic way of working.their kind of behaviour would be hard to acheive from behind bars.So if you are polite and keep your nose clean you are rewarded with the world once more and children galore.my gut rreation would be to rid the world but that is not a task i myself would undertake so therefore could not expect anyone else to do.How ever tax payers money should cover keeping these offenders in food and clothing games and such to keep unwanted stresses at bay,but i donot believe that they should ever be released to harm again.Are children and their well beings so indespensible.If a lion was loose upon our streets mauled and maimed our children going with the laws way,after x amount of time caged up the lion for being good or serving its said time would be released to harm again,where is the difference.Yes accepting the obvious unlike humans the lion has no concept of remorse nor recognition for its actions.these offenders albeit human for the most have the drive of a beast,unable to stop their insasiable hunger or drive even in the ones that do know what they do is wrong.finally if I felt my children at risk i wouldnt take time campanging and requesting.when children are at risk and the law is proven such an untrustworthy path you remove you children from the danger.you don't keep themthere in the hopes something will change and in the mean time your children suffer.then that becomes the parent at fault as well as the law allowing the offender the child.your actions should be immediate what ever the cost financial and emotional.this is what i did when I new danger was close.if as with beasts these men and women bare no concience while they should be stopped and kept inturned are they really to blame if the law allows with its knowledge of right and wrong them free and we as parents chose to live near by and claiming to cherish our children.Ilive a somewhat isolated life away from everyone Ive ever known but I can be at peace with myself that as a mother I did what was nessesary in an attempt to keep my children safe.Thankyou for asking this question and giving overlooked children a voice.
