If you seriously cannot comprehend what one "learns" in college, you don't deserve to be given the opportunity to take AP classes.

Absolutely take AP classes. They're easier than college classes and they count for college credit...plus cost TONS less. I paid $75 for my AP Calculus test and the same class at a university would cost around $350. APs are incredibly time-saving for your generals.

College is not like high school. It's harder but not hard in the way you'd think. Mostly you need to be able to manage your time well and go to class. Seriously, the more often you attend class, the better your grades will be.

As far as "like taking chemistry," you have to take what are called "generals." Colleges have a set list of classes that you have to take in order to graduate. Usually they consist of: Freshman English, math, two sciences, physical education, and social sciences. Each school does this differently. They are supposed to make you a more well-rounded person. After you finish your generals, you usually start on your major. This is the part you get to choose--sort of. There are certain areas in your major that you have to fulfill (e.g. an English major has to take American Lit, Linguistics, etc.).

I hope this answered your question!

What an interesting question. Let me tell you something, what you wanna do, considering you're in high school, is try to pick classes that you're interested in more than taking AP classes. You are going to find out, actually, let me just tell you, YOU DO NOT NEED ANY AP CLASSES - MORE LIKELY THAN NOT, you're going to be in college and you'll graduate with MORE than enough credits.

Let me explain something, I was in high school and I took all these AP classes and yeah, okay, I got college cred for them but guess what? I graduated with a DOUBLE MAJOR, one which is completely unused!

Listen, take classes that you enjoy and what will probably happen is you'll get good grades in them. What matters MORE are your grades and SAT score and less so how many COLLEGE CREDs you'll get. You want to get into a good college and APs are not that important.

Of course, that's my opinion. They're good in that they do let you have a bunch of credits for college, some colleges won't accept them, but if the college that you decide to go to accepts them, then you can just use them towards your college degree and take a bunch of electives or graduate early and save some money.

Again, here's some more advice, you DO NOT want to graduate college early. It's not a race and many people will tell you that it is an experience of a lifetime. That's true, it is and you want 4 years.

So finally, do APs you like, if you don't like the APs offered, take classes that you think you'll like and do well. Good luck!

AP classes are classes that are college level moving at closer to a high school pace.

Definetely take something that interests you and I wouldn't take more than 1, two at the VERY most per semester. They are tyipcally a lot of extra work and you will need that time to study but im sure you still want to have a life outside of your textbook.

In college, the classes are a continuation and build on what you learned in high school. they move at a lot faster pace and you have to do a lot of the learning and studying on your own.

I would start with the standard academic subjects: English, History, Math, Science, Foreign Language; take AP in these if you can, because this is what colleges look for. if your AP grade is high enough, you may not have to take the corresponding college course.

Beyond that, take what interests you, but be aware that a college may not offer credit for something unusual like AP religion.

take real AP classes....i.e U.S History, Physics, Chem., or Bio, English
YES! colleges look to see if you've been taking challenging classes...8 classes in kite building won't look good
PS: you don't need to over load on APs 3-4 through out your whole highschool career is a very good amount

oh and btw, college is nothing like high school...if you go to a good college anyways...a community college or crappy college will be ALOT like high school. but if you go to a good college, then it's much different...i'm at SU, look me up if you come here ; )

oh...and a word of advise...all these idiots that are telling you to take all fun classes, are idiots....there's a reason they're all saying college is like high school, it's because they took the "funnest" classes in high school, and ended up at a bad college because of it...
Good luck! work hard, play hard.

Yes college is kinda like high school unless you go to a college specializing in a certain carrer. I recommend you have lots of fun in high school and take the funnest classes but still graduate.
