Love at this age is immature and it is puppy love but it is also unconditional. that is the only diference between love of the young and the older. older people always have conditions because through experience we know how hard it is to keep a good honest relationship. but in no way is the love fake when your young. My younger love's are less forgotten than the ones as I got older. Most of my mistakes were made with those first love's yet those are the ones i would rather be with now. Your friend needs your support and hopefully your encouragement may help keep them together as they become adults. Many parents will say thier love is misguided. So guide them if no one will because young love is set in mind and heart......... And a lot of these other answers of people saying you must get experience through others is exactly what screwws people up when they are older. Now I wish I had stayed with my first love because it was the only time when my life had not become corupted by the world. experience can be good but also corupting

If a teens parent dies, no one questions their sorror over the death. If something happens to upset them, no one questions their anger. Why people (adults) question the ability of a teenager to love, is beyond me. It is just another emotion that yes, we all feel.

As far as how long it will last....probably not very long. There are couples who were high school sweethearts, and are still together, but the truth of the matter is is that you're still growing, maturing, and you will change. Just like you will go through your girlfriends, being best friends with one today, and a different one tomorrow, so too your loves will change.

I know that isn't what you, or your friend wants to hear....but it truly is the wonderful thing about growing up. If you only had one boyfriend, you wouldn't know much about people.

Enjoy your first love for what it is.....your first. Grow up, get your education, have many wonderful (upstanding) boyfriends before you settle on just one.

When you find the man of your dreams, neither one of you will need to profess your feelings in such a dramatic way....but that is part of the maturing process.

Yes, they can be in love, but it is puppy love and totally immature. Being with one person at age 14 and 16 is not healthy because we learn how to relate to the opposite sex by dating different people; socializing with friends and that is the way young people mature. That is how we find out who we feel comfortable with and who we relate to. These kid romances which sometime end in marriage most of the time do not work out and it is always because it was based on two people who were totally immature. .

At 14 and 16 you have NO idea what love is.You are still a child and have a lot of growing to do.Be a child and enjoy life as such. You have lots of time to worry about love and dating later.Enjoy school and your friends and family.
One day down the road you will realize this is true.

Yes they can legitimately be in love but, they are not responsible enough to endure all that love in tales. Of course he would give his life, he is too young to appreciate life

i can totally relate to this one. lets say love is what got me pregnant at fourteen. so really at that age i think half of us don't really know what love is. it is called infatuation, where you really like this person that he/she means the whole world for you. for me i thought i was really in love that he was the only one for me at that age. but sure enough he was. but truly i didn't start maturing till 18. i've got 3 girls now and for sure they are not falling in love at such a young age like mommy did.

Puppy Love, but love none the less, and should be treated as such.

its not love, its puppy love, at that age you have no concept of love yet, you have no concept of the workings of the world even, it may be possible but it is rediculously improbable
