No, because it turns into a form of false entertainment. I'm sure most of us have at least once looked up a video of an execution on the Internet. However, I noticed that most people I know usually feel regret for watching an execution video and often find it to be somewhat wrong to a certain extent. Not to say I am for or against executions but I think it is a scary thing when our society becomes entertained by someone death whether they are a convicted criminal or not. By making executions public not only do we violate the accused rights to privacy we also glorify their death to a certain degree.

it is surprising to me that so many people are so damned cruel, they want to see executions , killings etc, and the only thing keeping them from being murders are they are so damned scared they will get caught and haft to pay the price, or are they really murders and haven't been caught yet? if I were a cop and had unsolved murders in my district I sure would be looking at these sadistic A, holes to see where they were when said murder took place, also , how soon we forget, no one seems to remember the 47 men who were convicted in Illinois and when the feds investigated they proved 35 were not guilty, and the prosecutor had lied and had the cops to lie also, he knew some of these men were not guilty, no cop has been charged nor indicted and the prosecutor is now the states Attorney General,
so much for our justice system,
the same thing happened in Los Angles remember the Rampart scandal where the cops were committing crimes and placing the blame on others?now thousands of cases have got to be retried (except the ones who have already been executed )after the feds investigated, and this has happened all over the country,
in view of all of these facts, how can any sensible caring person vote for the death penalty??or do we have a nation of sadist, who simple enjoy taking others lives? if so I do hope you will be sitting in the hot seat some day,
meantime don;t come around my home or family, as I don't trust anyone who could have these feelings,

I'm torn. It could be a ghoulish return to public spectacle.
However, I also think that limiting the visibility of lawfully-imposed death has helped transform execution from an arousing spectacle of vengeance into an easily ignored matter of mere administration.
From the pro-death penalty side, it might be a deterrance; from the anti-death penalty side, it would show what a truly horrendous experience it is.

Nah not public it would just cause more activist to act like idiots.
But I do think they should speed up the process a little. they sit on death row too long. I say kill em a week after they get the ruling.
All Ya'll other states need to step it up a little too.
I'm from Texas where we hand out the death penalty like
beads at Mardi Gras.

Nope...it's adding barbarity on top of barbarity.
The death penalty is *not* a deterrent. When someone stabs or shoots someone else in a fit of impulsive anger, they are not thinking ahead to the possible consequences.
We can't execute our way to a better world... we all have to stop hurting each other.

Prison is not good enough because it is fun for you in there!
All the free sex
The real root of the problem is that you are really all latent homosexuals and want to get caught and go to prison so you can be GAY in a place where it is acceptable. ADMIT IT!!

I say ,"yes", and this way people will know we mean business and that we are fed up, and we are not going to tolerate violent behavior against innocent victims. All the bleeding heart organizations will get over it.

no, we do not need executions in this century. many more nasty things can be done to criminals. plenty of work in dangerous places, pay back to society and suffer till the rest of days. heavy work is the best penalty.
