There were no cleaning instructions with it and I want to clean it proper so that it lasts. I would like to know if it's safe to use water for daily clean ups. Do I use Pledge each time after we eat? What about spills? Any help would be grateful.

Try that Murphy's Oil soap product, diluted to just clean the table not scrubbing it. Wipe up spills promptly.

Pledge tends to build up a coating that you will not like.

Use Murphys Oil Soap. This is a detergento for wood. It will keep the table clean without the wax build up of Pledge.

After your meals, try using just a dry cloth to remove crumbs, etc. As for spills, try to wipe them up right away and use place mats. For your regular cleaning, you can use Pledge or the Murphy's Oil Soap.

The type of wood doesn't really matter when using cleaning products, it's all in the finish. Water is usually safe. What I usually do is read the label before I buy a cleaning product. Be careful if you made the table though wood will swell.

several good answers but I think I would inquire from it's source,i.e. furniture store-they have a lot of furniture to keep clean in all kinds of wood surfaces.
