Epiphone Les paul-$350 to $500
Gibson Les Paul-$1100 to $3000
Fender Stratocaster-$700-$1000
mexican Strats-$300 to $500

Fender Strat American Standard should be around $600-700, that's what I paid yrs and yrs ago but I think it's about the same; cheap Mexican-built Strat more like $300. Get the American

Not sure about the Epiphone - but I know the real Gibson Les Pauls have so far been too rich for my blood, around $1500-$2000
