This site wouldn't let me copy anything from it, but apparantly two dollar bills are considered unlucky. This site also tells when the bills originated and also lists their sources.

First your BF's cousin told a big wopper. I am pretty sure that no single racr can take credit por printing a particular denomination bill. Paper denominations were inexistance from Europe before the slaves were here. Thomas Jefferson get the credit for pushing for the US to develop its own currency. He knew that we could not keep going when everyone used currency from other places and every colony had its own exchange rate for that currency.

Also if the story were true he would have died long before the present design was finished. How could a dead man incorporate himself in a picture if he is dead.

You can carry anything you want for a good luck charm. The charm is not so much what the item is, it is more what the item stands for.

A lot of people carry a rabbits foot for good luck. I don't know any rabbit that think that it has brought them any luck.

Peter B is confused like so many who have never had a 2 dollar bill.

It was printed way back in the day and printed again in the 1970s as I recall for collectibillity. On one side is a picture of I think it is the signing of the declaration of independence(might be the constitution). I forget the other.

It is Absolutely Legal Tender good for all debts public and private.

Cashiers and businesses get confused by collectable currency. When the new dollar coins came out, a lot of places said they wouldn't take them - but they have no choice. It's legal tender.

not quite what you're looking for, but for 20 years now i've carried half a canadian $2 bill. my old pal bob, who can be found about 20 miles from the next closest person WAY up Vancouver Island, carries the other half.
It's a memento of a particularly traumatic day, Black Thursday, nearly 20 years ago

My sister-in-law considers a $2 bill VERY unlucky. Every time my brother carried a $2 bill he ended up getting hurt in some way.

I don't know rather a black person printed it or not. When I was waitress one time a man gave me a 2 dollar bill. I told my friend about it; he said you better get rid of it; it causes bad luck.
