How, or what, is best to use, for removing old, old, cracked wallpaper glue? My walls have an almost crackle effect.
Thanks

Spray on lots of water or Dif (Home Depot) and score and scrape.

You could try renting a steamer but realize the damage has been done by painting over the glue. I would get a product called Shields made by Zinseer to seal wallpaper glue and apply that like a primer, then I would skim coat your wall with joint compound, LIGHTLY then prime and paint. Skim coating isn't that hard and you can do it, no fancy tools just a 6" broad knife and have at it. Good luck

what i found most useful is steam, a putty knife and a sponge, the steam loosens the glue the putty knife removes most of the glue and the sponge picks up the remainder. this technique does take time but it works and you might have to do it more than a few times

if you are removing the wall paper too, the best thing I have found is hot hot tap water mixed 50/50 with dish soap in a spritzer bottle and spray it on the wall, paper and all and soak it... give it a minute to soak in and scrape off with a plastic scraper.. worked on our walls to remove 20 year old wall paper.

I heard that hot water and diswashing liquid will should remove it. You can also check on HGTV "Tipical Maryellen" or maybe Design To Sell. I know they give tips on stuff like that during commercial breaks. You could always email those shows to see what they say.

Yeah, score it with a 'Paper Tiger' then spray it with water and allow to soak in. Then scrape off.

If it's really bad you can rent a steamer.
