If you used a substance like maple syrup instead of water in a graduated cylinder, what factors would be affected and how would you have to change them to make the Cartesian Diver in syrup work?

Just the density of the syrup, I think. In terms of grams/cc. I assume it is heavier than water, which would require the diver to have a larger air space to get enough buoyancy. A simple ration of syrup to water should give you the ratio of air volume required. And, it is refreshing that there are still Cartesian Divers around. Something from my youth.
