Ask your teacher if there is a way you could demonstrate corss-linking with a microwave since crosslinking is what damages DNA when there is high exposure to UV radiation. And such DNA damage can cause mutations which can cause cancer. That is why sunscreen is good for yer.

I would say that you have bitten off more that you can chew. You are not going to be able to show any connection between a microwave and cancer. First it takes a long time for cancer to develop from a specific cause. To make that connection you would need a control group with no microwave ovens and no exposer to external microwaves. Then you would need a group of people with microwaveswhere a larger percentage of people have developed one single type of cancer and then try to draw a connection. For example the people that lived around "LOVE CANAL" had a higher rate of several cancers. That group were exposed to the same stimulus at the same time.

You would also have to prove that a series of microwaves had a specific leakage problem and that that leakage was enough to have some effect on people.

Putting different things into a microwave has absolutely nothing to do with cancer.

This is a poor choice. You would have to try to give some poor animal cancer. You should instead test the resistance certain materials have against microave energy.Put bars of Ivory soap in the microwave in diferent types of containers and observe the results.

Put a blank CD in the microwave on low power. Just a few seconds at a time though. The metal in the cd will arc and make some cool patterns on the cd.
