i dislike this show immensely, but I'm not quite able to articulate why. Can anyone help?

I did not have time to watch the show initially, and when I decided to watch it, I realise it was not as good as I expected.
You dislike the show, but I am not sure whether you disliked the show as soon as it started, or halfway through the seasons.
For me, I feel the show was quite monotonous, and I could more or less predict what would happen next - that really spoils the interest of watching it.
Also, I really don't fancy shows with numerous seasons when I can more or less predict what will happen next. While I am also slightly disgusted with shows like LOST and Prison Break - which leave audiences hanging in the air towards the end of each season, these shows at least kept me glued to the TV because of all the thrilling plots, unexpected turn of events, and all the little shocks and surprises.
Smallville is just not as thrilling as I hoped it to be. I happen to associate it with a show like "Charmed" which was equally thrill-less to me.

I actually like this show ( Incase you don't know, I am big superman fan) Anyway, the reason I dislike this show (a little) is because of the drama, (Lana and Clark) It gets very annoying sometimes, actually all the time. There is so many fillers, and they don't get straight to point. And Clark is always getting himself in trouble, and always need's someone to help him (example: Chloe). The writers aren't doing a very good job, at the new season, it seem as if the writer(s) are doing anything, as long as the show continues..
AND it is becoming a Soap Opera

It's a poor man's superman rip off. The acting is believable crappy. The dialogue is absolutely horrid. BAH I'm on the same page as you

Because they turned Superman into a soap opera complete with stupid plots, bad acting, recurring themes, and playing with the time continuum.

Well, I like it it. It's definitely not the best show, but it's still entertaining.
