I grew up in a close family.. but we also had our space and had our fights "normal family".
My husbands family seems "to close" they are weird.. my husband still "baby talks" with his mom.. I have told him its really weird and it bugs me..and he says he does it because they have always did that! Then he says well... your a "daddys girl" and I tell him yes, I am and will always be, but, I don't baby talk him and at least I can act like an adult around my dad.. I just don't want to be around his family! Anyone have same problems!

Girl, I FULLY understand you!!!!!!!! Due to the publicity on here, I cannot say what I wish, but lets just say that I wish one could choose their in-laws!! I've been married a whole 5 months now...almost 6, and I'm glad they live far far away. Good luck to you!! Sorry I don't have any magic spells to share with you, but know you aren't alone *GRIN*

The baby talking thing is very weird! My fiances' mom kind of treats him like a baby when she sees him too. She says things like, "my baby boy" and she recently said that she hopes he never grows up. Come on woman!! The guy is 33 and I'm praying he'll grow up soon. It's a thing with guys and their moms, I think. Although, my mother and brother don't act this way at all. Hmmmm.

my spouse is the baby in his family and even though we are in our mid thirtys, his parents still treats him like a kid, they always say things like you are just a kid, what do you know, stuff like that......... sometimes he will climb into bed with them and hug them while they watch tv, his father sometimes kisses him on his forehead if he has not seen him in a while, I am very close to my family and I am also daddy's little girl, but I don't climb into bed with them, at first it seemed weird to me, but now I think it is cute and hopefully one day my children will be as close to me as he is with his parents, it is a special bond and it makes him and his parents happy

It sounds different. As long as your in-laws repsect the fact (your honey too) that you two are married, and don't try to interfere, or find out every "detail" of your day to day lives, it sounds like something that could be okay. Take care.
