I eat pretty healthy but I don't enjoy it. I never crave carrot sticks like I do a cheeseburger or ice cream. Is it the sugar and fat that makes us "crave" it? And what are some healthy foods that taste as good as junk? If any exist.

Well I know how this can be annoying/I hate when I am looking for some good healthy snacks and come up with things that I hate.Health food is filled with usually stuff that tastes bitter or not so sweet.Fat,grease,sugar etc. is a bases of foods to fill you up with a sugar craving.
Now me,don't try if you don't like,I go to work,and I eat for lunch.
String cheese,
Apple-Kiwi-Banana-Either or-But Kiwi tastes more like a sugar
Some Meat,say Chicken from the deli
Bottles Water
or you can always try Ham,cheese,and ritz crackers-
or ritz crackers with peanut butter.It actually(atleast for me)
fills you right up.

Some researchers believe that our cravings for junk food have evolutionary value. In the past, food was not always readily available, so our bodies learned to like foods that put fat on our bones. Then, in times of scarcity, the body can draw on the energy stored within the fat cells.

The problem is that now, there aren't any times of scarcity. Our body still likes packing on fat, but we don't have to deal with famine that would consume the fat. That's why so many people in America are obese- simply because they can.

because the people who make junk food put a bunch of flavoring and artificial stuff and sweeteners to make the junk food taste good. and healthy foods are healthy because they don't have all that flavoring.

there are actually lots of healthy foods that taste good as junk... excluding all those that are the "healthy" versions of junk food (reduced fat, organic, etc.), something i really like is this kind of vegetable cracker that i like so much that they might as well be considered junk food...

It is the sugar and the carbs and they are addictive. I think there are some healthy foods that you can get used to eating...and really enjoy. Eat the cheeseburger without the bread...it's the carbs that pack the pounds on really so just watch those...but don't eat only carbs because we do need fruits and veggies too...They make low carb ice-cream and all sorts of things like that...so spend a little loot and try that kind of stuff.

Ahh I feel the same way.. I love to pig out on chocolate and especially ice cream but its just too fatty. So I usually try to go with something "in the middle" like Sherbert (which is usually fat free) or nuts which are fatty but have alot of protien. Also Nature Valley Granola bars are great if you like that sort of thing.

Mostly the sugar and additives...we are addicted to them.
You can add dips and all kinds of yummy tasting things to your veggies to make them taste better.
There are many health foods now that taste great! For instance, if you like chips, get the baked ones instead. less fat, but tastes great! Instead of ice cream try sugar free Popsicles or sherbet. Tastes great!

Fruits are really good, and they have natural sugar!! (believe me, im a sugar freak) !! Just start looking at whats in the foods you crave, lots of fat, calories, etc. just find healthier solutions to what your eating.

Probably the MSG. It makes people "want" it more when you put more MSG. Healthy food tends to have none or less MSG...

Or could be other addictive things like aspartame...Diet drinks has the most of this in and it's extremely addictive.

I like junk food as well...it's tastes so good!! XD

Sugar is naturally "tasty" to humans I think, so are Trans-fats, and those two things are in almost every junk food around. But, yeah, I totally agree with you about the food and stuff.

i totally agree with you on that one...right now i could go for a chocolate milkshake and a cheeseburger, even though i know there are much healthier alternitives sitting in my kitchen. it probably is mainly due to the taste...or the sugar rush we get after eating them...i wish i could find some better tasting healthy snacks...
