If Giggs hadn't asked for ten yards, he could have shot anytime when the ball was dead, if he did ask, then Giggs would have to wait for the whistle to be blown. Now did Giggs, go when he asked for ten yards, without the whistle blown? If so, the kick should've been retaken

Giggs did not ask for ten yards, he knew he could take the shot fast and accurate, so he just took the shot. Lille of course would disagree because they are used to a slow start, where the ref measures ten yards, blah blah blha.....Giggs is experienced, the goal was weet, even IF people say he cheated.....

He spoke to the ref, the ref walked away from the ball hence putting it in play so I think we can assume he didn't. Surely the referee would have called the kick to be retaken had Giggs not waited for the whistle. He is an experienced campaigner and would have seen the opportunity presented to him, so why would he have requested the implementation of the 10 yard rule.

He didn't ask for ten, so the play was completely legal and the whistle didn't need to be blown.

i watch it on TV, we don't get to hear what the players say to each other the ref sad isn't it, but i have to say it was a fair goal. Lille show inexperience one of their player should have stood in front of the ball while building the wall.
