My boss and his wife just had a set of twins. They have a daugher who is 3 too. I'm just wondering what I should get them (boss and his wife) as a gift to help them with the two new boys. I'm not looking for the traditional "for you but really for baby" gifts. Maybe a gift certificate for a nice dinner? But then who's gonna watch those little ones? Please help, zny ideas are appreciated.

Please keep in mind that this is my boss. I'm not social with him outside of work, so I'm not sure watching the babies is a good idea.

The best thing is a gift certificate to a baby store - because every mom knows what their children need, but we do not. That way they don't get something they really don't need...

However - know that when you buy a gift certificate you generally have to spend more to make an impression. For a boss, with twins, I recommend no less than $50.00.

Good luck!

Here are a few different ideas as they come to me: Gift certificate for you to babysit might be nice. Massage gift certificates might be nice too. They could each go separately to have some alone time to relax. How about "Take-Out Taxi" gift card. They are a delivery service for all kinds of local restaurants..that way they can have a nice dinner maybe when the babies go to bed. Blockbuster card to go with it. You could call it dinner and a movie. Put in all in a basket with some boxes of movie candy, microwave popcorn, bottle of soda.
Great idea on your part to take care of those parents!!

If you enjoy cooking I would suggest cooking a meal for the family. It would be such a relief for the mom to not have to worry about making dinner one night. Give them a card or something telling them that you would like to do this, agree upon a date and find out if there are any allergies...then you're good to go! Doesn't have to be anything fancy but I know after my 3rd baby that was the best gift ever. We had a delicious meal that my husband and I enjoyed after the girls went to bed and shared a bottle of wine. I also got some flowers with it.

Hope this is helpful!

The gift certificate for dinner is a fantastic idea. Or a gift basket with certificates to a movie theater and a bottle of wine plus a gift certicate of you to baby sit.

I would get her a manicure pedicure gift certificate. I'm sure she could use some alone time and pampering after having twins. For him---- you could get him a certificate for dinner, golf, music etc.. This way they can each have some piece and quite. As for the babies- an engraved picture frame or photo album. It's classic, personal, but not in your face, and sophisticated.
Good luck!

Well it depends on your price range, but find out if she needs something like a food processor or a crockpot. Something that will make cooking easier would probably be appreciated. Mind you I love cooking ;-) If she hates cooking probably not so good.

Also some places have cooking groups where a bunch of women get together in a professional kitchen and make a bunch of food in advance, mind you that would be for when the babies are old enough for her to leave.

Maid service ;-)

Gift certificate for a bookstore and write on it "No kids books, I mean it!"

You could always buy a nice picnic basket and fill it with all the fixings. That way they can have a nice romantic picnic after the kids go to bed. Maybe even include a bottle of non alcoholic wine and a pair of wine glasses, a cd of romantic love songs ect...

Gift Certificates for pizza, movie rental places, newspaper delivered or a month, grocery store, electronics store, maid service, diaper service...think of them as not being able to leave the house for a while...what could you do for them if they couldn't get out?

That is hard. A bottle of wine but not if they do not drink or if she is nursing it is not such a great idea. Bringing them a hot cooked meal is great because when you have kids it is hard to cook especially twins and a three year old. Sorry I was not more help
