It's pretty simple. It's an essay about which type of government I favor and why I think it outweights the other choice.

I chose that a leader should have his right to rule (power) limited by the people.

I already got my reasons to why I chose this, but I'm thinking of starting off the essay with a story about how some people let their leader have complete control over them and how it affected them negatively. Can you guys give any suggestiosn to how I should start? Thanks a ton!

Love,
Me

I'm assuming that you need help with an attention getter. All smart-alecky comments aside, I'll give you a quick one, because I've just gotten done with essays and a.g.s are easy for me. A sample a.g:

Darkness was swiftly falling over the city of ___, folding arms drenched in moonlight and shadows around ___'s guarded walls. Joe shivered in his ragged jacket, from cold and a creeping fear. It was nearing 9:00, and the curfew bells would be gonging soon. If he was caught out after curfew by a nightguard - well, the repercussions of facing his Emporer with an excuse would surely not be pleasant. 'If only the people of ___ had limited the power of our Emporer when we had the chance...'

Hope that helped some.

Hello young Me,
Why don't you begin the story like a fairy tale of this type:
In the land of GUM, King Wriggley was given total and complete control. He ruled with an iron fist....

Make sure before toolong you get back to your tolic or your grade will be cut for getting off topic. This can be a way to draw your audience in and get them to read the whole document. I have seen it work. This may be too corny for you. You have my permission to scrap or change it as you wish. Have a great evening.

you could just start your essay by saying a specific leader is not a good leader. for instance, if you think Mr. John is not a good leader, then write. Mr. John is not a good leader. Then you can have some supporting material sayting why is he not a good leader.
