The gyno exam is really no big deal. I am in and out in about 10 mins. You have put an exam gown on with the open part in the front. He will listen to your heart, lungs, etc. He will ask you to lay down and he feel to make sure you don't have any lumps in your breasts. You put your feet in the stirrups, like in the movies. He takes they clamps that look like duck beaks and opens you just enough so that he can take a q-tip and get a sample of fluid off your cervix, which is at the very back of your vagina...about 5 inches in. And you're all done! He can't tell if you've had sex or not...but they ask you not to have sex 24hrs before the exam...something about messing up the test results!! It is not bad at all and you can have someone with you...and there is always a nurse present and they cover you with a blanket!! Good Luck!

Yeah, they might be able to tell if you have had sex or not, though they usually are not going to be concerned about such thoughts except for wanting to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. Your mother should not be in the room during the exam unless you want her there. You should just tell her that you will be fine, and go in without her. The doctor is obliged not to tell her what you talk about in the appointment.

The doctors will have you fill out a form, which you need to be truthful in, and maybe, some places give patient-doctor confidential stuff..heh, meaning what you tell the doctor, they will not tell your parents, as long as it's not harmful to your health. Meaning, if you have an STD, and you're under 18, they will have to tell your parents. You will also have to undergo the wonderful (being sarcastic) pap exam of where they inspect you to make sure everything's ok. Not sure if they can tell you have sex or not, but if you have the patient-doctor thing, you'll be ok anyway.
