Im making a website for jobseekers. Basically, people will be able to share their experiences with companies that they have applied to, or are employed in. They will be asked to put in information like company name, compensation packages, HRD conduct, salary range, etc; anything that can help a jobseeker choose the right company for him/her. I will of course put a disclaimer on the accuracy of the information given by the public. Will companies chase me down with this kind of site?

They may chase you down and accuse you of libel but the disclaimer may protect you.

If you website is not connected to the government, I would say you are safe. You can post anything you want on the internet so long as its not copyrighted material. People post their opinions all the time. Look at sites like http://www.epinions.com that ask for opinions on products. They have good and bad reviews and yet they are perfectly legit. If a company has good reviews on your site, they might encourage prospective employees to go there. If they have bad reviews, they will not mention you and just hope that people stay away.

In summary - you should be fine.

No. You are safe as long as you put a disclaimer that all comments made on your site are purely opinions and do not reflect your personal beliefs.
