What are some good things that I should do to make my college applications look good?

I already have volunteered at a Nursing Home for the past two years. That's not enough, is it?

Talk about any clubs you've been in and any other volunteering/service you've done. If you've taken electives for school or done academic stuff outside of class, then put that down as well. Some colleges have essays that ask why you want to go to the college or what you seek to gain with your college education. When they look at your app, they're basically looking for stuff that makes you seem like an intelligent, committed, disciplined, involved person.

You could be involved in extracurriculars through your school that require certain hours of volunteer work, such as National Honor Society. Also, if you tried for and got a leadership position in a club then that would look awesome on your app

It depends on the type of place you are applying to. It shows some community awareness and that looks good. Getting involved in things that show your interests or are related to your intended major are also good. I was never interested in sports so that never had a chance of appearing on my applications, however I was interested in math and science. Since I majoring in engineering, I decided to look into things that would show off my interest in those areas. I joined things like my high school's scholastic bowl and math teams. I also joined other organizations that were related to my interests. Things that allow you to get leadership experience are always good for both college or jobs.

To be honest about the excurricular activities that you have been involved in. Have you taken any foreign language classes? that is awesome on a college application.
