There's a reason that Centers have been drafted #1 8 out of the last 10 years (and 20 out of the last 25 years). There's a reason that Sam Bowie was drafted ahead of Michael Jordan. It's because true dominant Centers are rare and small forwards are a dime a dozen. Look at the current top NBA Centers -- Eddie Curry? Sam Dalembert? Zydrunas?! Just look at the Center competition in college. You can't name another dominant player at the Center position who projects in the pros -- Roy Hibbart? Spencer Hawes? Aaron Gray? Puhleeze.
Greg Oden comes in and IMMEDIATELY becomes the best player in the NBA at his position -- probably for the next 8-12 years.
Any other year, it's Kevin Durant. This year, it's Greg Oden, and it's not even close. Alando Tucker's not even in the discussion. There are so many talented big men (McRoberts, Wright, Noah, Horford), that Tucker will drop out of the top 10.

It depends on who has the first pick. If you are are the New York Knicks you go with Durant Currey, Lee, and Frye will lock down-low for a long time. If you are Boston take Oden you have a great up and comin perimeter player in Gerald Green. If you are Memphis and trade Gasol before the deadline then you go with Oden. If Gasol isn't traded you go w/ Durant and have a tandom trio in Gay, Gasol, and Durant for the future all very long players. It depends on the team who gets the first pick, but for the most part Oden is a once in a decade pick you don't see a guy like this come out that often. There are plenty of very good perimeter players and the difference between the best and worst down low players is greater than the best and worst perimeter players go with Oden.... did i mention i was an OSU fan. O yea one more thing Orlando Tucker will not go #1 no matter what.

Easy answer. Kevin Durant. He can shoot from anywhere, he can pass, and he can handle the ball well. On the defensive end. He can block shots and averages a couple of steals per game. He will be able to come in to the nba and make an immediate impact, and thats what teams are looking for.

ODEN! no doubt about it. Durant was even talking about leaving right after his freshman year! that would be pointless that just shows that he doesn't even care about his team. Oden will get better as he keeps playing, Durant will never last in the NBA

for me, its greg oden all the way. i know durant is great and all but greg oden is a once in a decade type of player. for a bigman he is very agile and can run the floor. usually centers like aaron gray and spencer hawes are kind of slow. odens shotblocking is second to none. he has great timeing and can get lots of rebounds. even if he doesnt block your shot, odens size and athletecism will force others to alter their shot. you cant pass up on the next david robinson, not even for durant.

Oden, most upside, huge, smart, and can shoot with both hands!
Tucker is good, but Oden could be the one you can't pass up and the pick of the decade.

Good Question!
The answer is: DURANT.
He is already a complete player, and he has ridiculous range. I hate Texas, but he really is the best player in the NCAA.

i will go with kevin durant, why because he can take over a game he can score thirthy point anygame he wants to , he can block and rebound because of his height, that why i pick him above all of those.
