NO, Please wait until a year old. There are two reasons why the Committee on Nutrition of the American Academy of Pediatrics discourages the use of cow's milk under one year of age: allergies and iron- deficiency anemia. The intestinal lining is slower to mature in some babies than others. While lactose intolerance is rare in infants, some toddlers and older children can develop diarrhea, bloating, and abdominal pain, because of their inability to digest the lactose sugar in milk. Also, the allergic proteins may seep through the irritated intestinal lining into the bloodstream and cause an allergic reaction, such as a runny nose, wheezing, or a red, raised, sandpaper-like rash, especially on the cheeks. Some babies who are allergic to cow's milk can even get frequent ear infections.

Iron-deficiency anemia is another problem, as there is very little iron in cow's milk. If baby is allergic to the cow's milk protein, the irritated intestines may consistently lose a tiny bit of blood into baby's stools.

I would wait until they are 1 year old. Babies should be drinking formula, not milk. Because formula has all the nutrients that they need. And whole milk may be a bit too fattening

No it's not, there's a big difference between formula and cows milk. The proteins in each are digested in the stomach differently, and babies don't have the ability to digest cow milk proteins yet. Also changing formula a lot is not good on your baby.

No. Any pediatrician in the U.S. will tell you that babies need the extra calories, fat, and nutrients found in formula till they are one. It's not that whole milk will hurt him, if he is on milk-based formula anyway, it's that formula has a lot of extra stuff (like breastmilk) that cow's milk doesn't have and a human baby needs. Put your baby back on formula and get over the smell.

they should be on formula till they are 1yo. if they are having problems with similac or good start maybe you should try soy like isomil. If the cost is the problem try checking out WIC (women infants and children). It is a program to get free formula and other foods for women infants and children up to age 5. They give you coupons for either regular or soy formula.

NO, babies should NOT be given whole milk until they are one year old, they need the nutrients from formula up until then.

You should keep him on formula until he's 1 year old, it is easier to digest and has more of the nutrients he needs which is especially important since he probably isn't eating that much solid food.

when you start a baby out on certain things at a young age, they become allergic to it. The same goes with peanut butter, and strawberries. The Dr.'s say that if you start them out too early on milk, they become allergic.

My doctor didn't let me put my son on whole milk until he was one year old. He's fifteen months now.
